Emilia Bellopede My name is Donna Maiorano Perry Many of you don't know my grandmother Emilia Bellopede. But those friends of mine who visited my home will remember my grandmother always there cooking. She could not speak any English but she always had a smile on her face. When she made pizza for us on Friday, she would send some over to the Sisters. They certainly did enjoy her Friday night treat. Donna Maiorano Perry 64 |
| Giovanni Salvatore Pace I want my father to be remembered for the great person he was and for all the great things he did, in particular, the things he did for Our Lady of Loreto. My father was the President of the Saint Anthony Society at Our Lady of Loreto for 28 years. The Society was his passion. Each year he spent countless hours preparing for the annual carnival and Feast Day Celebration. The Feast tradition was embedded in his heart from his tiny hometown in the mountains of the Abruzzi region of Italy. His pride was to see the Saints paraded in the streets of the neighborhood he adapted and loved. He was a true leader whose dedication is an inspiration. Some of his other passions were his family and his kitchen. He introduced many to the joy of fabulous cooking and the best foods. He fed many in his lifetime and was glad to do so. Anyone who came to our home left with a memory of a wonderful meal. He was the strongest person I have ever known. He is the definition of a real man. He made our family's life warm and very comfortable. His presence was the comfort of not only our family, but many friends and coworkers. He is, and will always be, my true hero. He will NEVER EVER be forgotten and is sadly missed every day by my whole family. Ornella Pace Vega, Class of 1982 |
Hello ,my name is Danielle Zenga Murray. Many of you remember my family's Beer Distributorship in Southwest Philadelphia. My sister, brother and myself never went to Our Lady of Loreto-but her spirit and her graduates live in our hearts everyday. My maternal grandfather came to Southwest Phila .in September of 1923 from Capua,Italy to live the American Dream. All that remains of one of the founding families in this neighborhood are the grandchildren. It is a common joke in my family that if you dig up the streets in our old, battered neighborhood-you will find the bones of the Zenga family. Our lives have changed much.Forever,we will always be fiercely proud of who we are and where we come from.God Bless OLOL and those who love her, Danielle |
